Q: What paper sources do you use?
A: We have Nova Casualty Company (A-VII) for transactions that need admitted paper and AIX Specialty for those that are better suited to non admitted paper. Nova Casualty Company is licensed and filed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia so it has national capabilities. Additionally, we maintain relationships with a variety of different companies depending on the needs of our clients, from A++ XV global organizations to small specialty focused companies.
Q: What lines of business do you write?
A: We are licensed and filed to provide Property Coverage, General Liability, Automobile Liability, Surety and Workers Compensation in a vast majority of states. We have also done filings for specialty lines as needs arise on specific transactions. We are NOT a traditional market for professional coverage such as Directors and Officers or Medical Malpractice.
Q: Will you only look at program opportunities?
A: While we specialize in program opportunities, we also have an individual risk division that looks at complex transactions that utilize alternative risk transfer mechanisms. Additionally, we have a consulting arm that offers third party review of existing programs or individual risks and feasibility studies for new programs.
Q: What specific services can you provide? Will you unbundle?
A: We provide a host of services, such as program structuring, underwriting, marketing, claims handling, reinsurance and paper procurement, policy rate/quote/issue, etc. We can certainly unbundle if it is in the best interests of our clients. We welcome programs that already have services in place (TPA, Reinsurance, etc), but we will always maintain the underwriting “pen” at the AIX level.
Q: Will you look at “start up” program opportunities?
A: Start up programs come with a unique set of challenges. With that said, we will entertain start up programs if the dynamics would indicate a high probability of developing premium volume of $5M in 18-24 months.
